My artwork, titled “Holding the Tension of Opposites” is inspired by the concept developed by Carl Jung, the renowned psychiatrist, psychologist, and psychotherapist who pioneered theories about the human psyche.
Jung emphasized the importance of embracing conflicting forces within ourselves to achieve personal growth and wholeness. This idea also extends to fostering tolerance for others, even when their beliefs conflict with our own.
Water serves as a powerful metaphor for opposing dualities. It can be calm or chaotic, shallow or deep, hot or cold—mirroring the opposites we encounter within ourselves.
By holding the tension between opposing forces, much like navigating the currents of water, we can gain deeper insights, reconcile inner conflicts, and experience transformation. This process, in turn, has the potential to foster compassion not only for ourselves but also for others.
